Organic Pest Prevention.
Organic Pest Prevention is all about Prevention is better than Cure.
Using good Organic Gardening Principles you are more inclined to create an environment that Pests do not want to visit as every part of the Garden is in sync with Nature.
Pest Prevention starts with Healthy strong plants that fend for themselves. Plants are no different to you and me when we are fit and Healthy, eating the right food with plenty of fresh air we are less likely to succumb to Disease attack.
Part of that Health is using the right supplements to keep your plants in the right condition.
We have all heard the phrase Water off a Ducks Back, well that sums up a lot of the Organic products that you can use to achieve the Pest Prevention you are looking for in your garden.
The products listed below are mostly about creating an environment alien to Pests and Disease, combined with good Organic Gardening Practices cut the need to use Pesticides.
Foliar Sprays:
Fish Emulsion;
My favourite Pest Deterring product, Liquid Fish Fertiliser used as a Foliar Spray in its natural form is approximately ten percent Oil and this is the "magic" ingredient.
Used regularly (every couple of weeks) at the rate of 5 mls per Litre the Fish Fertiliser leaves a film of Oil that deters Pests from settling and they simply just move on.
Fish Emulsion that has added Fertiliser has a lower Oil level so needs a few more applications to achieve the same result as the Natural type.
If you get caught with a Pest outbreak up the rate to 20 mls per Litre and give the Pests a good drenching, at this rate, it has the same effect as an Oil spray and the kill can be quite good.
Word of warning, it stinks! so spray upwind or you won't be allowed back inside, the Garden also will stink, so spray in the evening, by the morning it will be all good!
Molasses;
Black Strap Molasses is my number two for a clean Pest Free garden, it also tastes a heck of a lot better than Fish Emulsion!
Used at the same rate (5 mls L) and sprayed regularly Molasses works extremely well at keeping the bugs away.
Its mode of action is a little vague but it does work, good to alternate with Fish Emulsion and again if you get an invasion of Greblies then use an extra strong dose of 20 mls per litre for a natural Pesticide.
Seaweed;
Seaweeds Pest Prevention capabilities like Molasses are not completely clear but it does work when used on a regular basis.
Seaweed also has the added benefit of being full of natural growth stimulants which increase the size of your Fruit and Vegetables.
Others worth a look are Compost Lecate and Worm castings both have good reviews and have Pest Prevention properties.
Choose one, two at the most of the above solutions and stick with it, consistency is the key to a good result.
Regular Foliar Feeding will also keep your plants in tip-top condition and I think this is a big part of creating a Pest Free environment.
Be Happy,
Barry.

For long term residual control use regular liquid fish fertiliser as a foliar spray, another method if your plant is an ornamental is a soil drench with Neem Oil. Cheers, Barry

Hi Christina, There are two ways of getting rid of the carcasses, wipe them off with either a damp cloth or paper towel or just wash them off with your garden hose. Cheers Barry
